Wetrok cleaning methods: wet scrubbing by machine

Mechanical wet scrubbing is an efficient method for thoroughly cleaning large floor surfaces. This technique combines water, detergent and mechanical brushing power to remove even stubborn dirt and grime. In this article, you will learn how machine wet scrubbing works and what advantages it offers.

The method briefly explained

A floor covering is wet scrubbed to remove heavy, adhesive dirt with the cleaning machine down to the depth of the floor covering. The cleaning agent and the scrubbing pad or scrubbing brush must be optimally matched to the floor covering so that the highly adhesive dirt or protective treatment can be removed efficiently and without damage.

You can find the recommendations in the Wetrok cleaning and care instructions: Cleaning and Care Instructions – Technische Datenblätter (wetrok.com)

After wet scrubbing, the dirt is usually removed with a water vacuum cleaner (combi vacuum cleaner). If there is a floor drain in the room, the dirt can be pushed into the drain with the foam rubber rake (water scraper).

Preparation

  • Select the appropriate products according to the surface to be cleaned (type / square meter) and soiling.
  • Check, equip and prepare the machine including accessories in accordance with the operating instructions.
  • Pour the cleaning agent into the machine’s water tank according to the dosing instructions.
  • Put up the warning sign. If necessary, cover surfaces to be protected (e.g. skirting boards).
  • Remove loose dirt (wipe with a dust-binding cloth or vacuum dry).

Main work

  • Wet scrub manually along the edges with the edge cleaning device and the suitable pad.
  • Attach the scrubbing pad with the LS pad drive disk or the scrubbing brush to the LS single-disc machine.
  • Set the correct tiller height.
  • Switch on the machine. The clutch must engage audibly.
  • Wet scrub the floor with the single-disc machine LS using the scrubbing pad while adding cleaning solution in slightly overlapping paths with circular movements.
  • If necessary, allow the cleaning solution to work in, but do not allow it to dry. Then wet scrub the floor covering again.
  • Turn or replace the soiled pad in good time, then continue with step 2 of the main work until the entire surface has been wet scrubbed.
  • Vacuum the dirt with a wet vacuum cleaner (wet vacuuming) or pull it into the floor drain (gully) with the sponge rubber rake (draw off/push off liquid).
  • If necessary, rinse the floor covering with the fresh pad and clear water and vacuum up the dirt.
  • Carry out the inspection.

Final work

  • Remove the warning sign as soon as the floor covering is dry.
  • Remove the covering material.
  • Empty the water tank, rinse it if necessary and leave it open to dry.
  • Check the cable for damage, clean it and roll it up loosely towards the plug.
  • Dispose of the waste.
  • Clean the cleaning material and replace if necessary.

Remark

  • Wear the protective equipment (PPE) required in accordance with the company regulations, safety data sheet or operating instructions.
  • Always check in advance which product meets your requirements (see Wetrok cleaning and care instructions).
  • Wetrok AG accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or incorrect product selection.
