Two-stage spray extraction is a particularly thorough method for cleaning carpets and upholstered furniture. This technique combines the spraying of a cleaning solution with subsequent vacuuming to effectively remove deep-seated dirt and stains. In this article, you will learn how two-stage spray extraction works and the benefits it offers for a spotless clean.
The method briefly explained
A floor covering is extracted to remove heavy, adhesive soiling in two work steps with the spray extraction machine down to the depth of the floor covering. This method is suitable for waterproof, textile floor coverings, carpets, textiles or upholstery. The entire textile covering (pile and backing material), the installation method and the substrate must be water-resistant, otherwise there is a risk of damage.
Spray extraction is a basic cleaning method. Heavy, sticky soiling can be removed in two work steps with the spray extraction machine. The drying time of the textile floor covering is very long and the floor covering may only be walked on again when it is dry – an ideal job during the summer vacations. The cleaning effect can be increased if additional mechanics are used with a brush during the rinse cycle, for example with the Extravac 340.
Preparation
Select the appropriate products according to the surface to be cleaned (type / square meter) and soiling. Check whether the entire floor covering is water-resistant.
Check, equip and prepare the machine including accessories in accordance with the operating instructions.
Fill the cleaning agent into the pressure sprayer according to the dosing instructions.
Close the pressure sprayer and build up the pressure (pump).
Fill clear water into the fresh water tank of the spray extraction machine.
Put up the warning sign.
Remove loose dirt (vacuum or brush dry).
Main work
Work step (pre-spraying): Spray sufficient detergent solution evenly onto the textile flooring in slightly overlapping strips using the pressure sprayer. Allow the detergent solution to soak in, but do not allow it to dry.
Work step (spray extraction/rinsing): Spray-extract the textile floor covering with water. Slowly pull the spray extraction nozzle backwards in slightly overlapping paths, spray the water into the flooring via the spray nozzles under pressure and immediately vacuum up the dirt with the suction nozzle. Repeat the process until the extracted rinsing water is clear. Empty the dirty water tank when it is full. Fill the fresh water tank when it is empty.
If necessary: Use a carpet brush to brush up the damp carpet pile. Carry out the inspection. Allow the carpet to dry completely.
