Coating floor surfaces is an effective method of prolonging their life and maintaining a neat appearance. This technique involves applying a special coating that protects the floor from wear, stains and damage. In this article, you will learn how coating works and what benefits it offers for different types of flooring. Today we will introduce you to coating (protective treatment).
Today we are introducing you to coating (protective coating).
The method briefly explained
A floor covering is coated to facilitate maintenance cleaning, reduce dirt adhesion to the floor covering and make the closed surface easier to clean. The appearance is also improved and the gloss level of the floor covering is determined (glossy or matt coating). A coating serves to maintain the value of the floor covering and the care product layer serves as a wear layer. Depending on the choice of maintenance product, the floor becomes more slip-resistant or more slippery. This cleaning method is suitable for smooth, water-resistant floor coverings and is not suitable for PU / PUR-protected coverings (does not adhere).
Preparation
Select the appropriate products according to the area to be protected (type / square meter).
Put up the warning sign.
If necessary, completely remove the adhering dirt, care products and protective treatments using the appropriate cleaning method (e.g. wet scrubbing and wet vacuuming).
If necessary: Fill the pores.
Allow the floor covering to dry completely.
Remove loose dirt (dust-binding mopping or dry vacuuming).
Main work
Pour a small amount of coating agent undiluted onto the floor and apply evenly and thinly with the applicator with the coating in slightly overlapping strips (circular movements), distribute excess coating agent. Work backwards towards the exit.
For further strips, pour a little coating agent onto the wet surface and spread as above. Repeat this step until the entire surface has been treated.
Lift the applicator off the ground like an airplane taking off.
Allow the floor covering to dry completely.
If necessary: Apply a second and possibly a third layer of coating agent. Allow the floor covering to dry completely.
Carry out the inspection.
Final work
Remove the warning label as soon as the coating is dry.
Rinse the coating and wash in the washing machine.
Dispose of the waste.
Clean the cleaning material and replace if necessary.
Remark
Wear the protective equipment (PPE) required according to company regulations, safety data sheet or operating instructions.
Always check in advance which product meets your requirements (see Wetrok cleaning and care instructions).
Wetrok AG accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or incorrect product selection.
